Project 52: Week 2

If you want to read more about what this project is and why I’m doing it, then have a little read of week 1.

If you’re interested in where I’m getting ideas for my weekly focus, take a look at my long term challenge: 101 in 1001.

Week 2

Monday: Back to nursery for Bertie. Back to work for Brett. We found some houses we like the look of on Rightmove so I got in touch with a mortgage specialist. Appointment arranged for next Tuesday. Very excited to be moving forward with our moving house goal. Went for a long walk with Barnaby. Had to wear my other trainers as my comfy ones had been through the washing machine. Pretty sure I have a blister. Bertie very tired after nursery. Traffic a nightmare.

Tuesday: Brett was in the office all day so it was a quiet day with Barnaby while Bertie was at nursery. Lots of playing and enjoying the space. Sorted the snack cupboard and put the food shop away. Both had a morning nap. Brett’s birthday present arrived and I snuck it upstairs. Barnaby had a 2.5 hour nap in the afternoon so my long walk didn’t happen. Did a stretching routine and marching on the spot instead. Bertie brought a cardboard box home from nursery and claimed it was a surf board.

Wednesday: Bertie’s last day at nursery this week. Relaxed morning, Barnaby had a long nap. Arranged to meet some friends and baby weigh in clinic. Decided to walk – 25 mins there and 20 back. Massive queue, ended up there all afternoon. He weights 1stone 6lb. 50th centile. Perfect. Picked Bertie up. All had an early night.

Thursday: Brett had an extra day in work this week so gave Bertie a choice of things to do and he chose going to Nana’s and the library. Borrowed 25 books. Read them all. Went back to Nana’s, Bertie played with her upstairs. Barnaby wouldn’t nap. Bertie complained of a headache and didn’t eat much.

Friday: Bertie woke up poorly. He said everything hurt especially his head. Sometimes his voice sounds gruff. High temp. Poor boy. Spend the morning cuddling up and watching films on the sofa. Usually hate to have so much screen time but he needs the rest. Took Barnaby for a walk to shop. Bertie napped. He perked up a little in the afternoon. Played Lego and built a castle. He didn’t eat much.

Saturday: Bertie woke up a little brighter though still quiet and slight temperature. One dose of Calpol and he was practically back to his usual self. Played Lego, read books, watched a film. Bertie and I walked to Asda to drop off some parcels then took a long walk. Brett and Bertie went out in the car to drop off another parcel and met us on the walk. Everyone napped after lunch. The boys played in the tunnel. Barnaby had a go with Bertie’s old walker and was off like a shot.

Sunday: Bertie back to normal. Horrendous night’s sleep from Barnaby. He keeps being sick after every meal. Pretty sure he’s got a tummy bug. Walked round to the shops for a few bits. Bertie bought 2 new books. Played at home. Manifested for a positive week next week.

Journey to a better me

This week’s focus was to close all the rings on my Apple Watch. I’ve come to realise this means different things to different people based on their previous performance. For me it means:

  • Move: 470kcal
  • Exercise: 35mins
  • Stand: 13hours

I’m not going to lie, I’m quite glad this one’s over. While I have managed it, there were a couple of days walking on the spot while watching TV at 10 at night! It didn’t help that Bertie was poorly this week so just wanted to be sat cuddling me on the sofa.

However, I’ve realised just how much I enjoy a walk. I live in a built up area, so walks are just up and down various streets. But, with a good podcast playing I get lost in my own world and it doesn’t matter where I’m walking. Barnaby’s enjoyed getting out in the fresh air too and is paying much more attention to his surroundings whilst we walk.

I’ve still managed to stick within my calories this week too. That’s a longer term goal, but I’m proud of myself for going two full weeks. I don’t think I’ll be closing my rings every day next week, but I’ll be making sure to go out for regular walks, and maybe aim for closed rings 3-4 days

Next week’s focus: daily gratitude.

  1. Well done on the walking. I need to get back to mine and healthy eating, but tend to just do walking/stepping at home. We live in the middle of nowhere, so it’s hard work trekking and I find the fields get a bit boring. I’d much rather walk in a town or village. Glad Bertie’s well again. It’s not great when they’re sick.

  2. Good luck with the house move!
It sounds like a lovely week apart from your boys being poorly. Bless them. It’s rotten at this time of year with all the bugs going around. x

  3. Aw sorry to hear your boys have been poorly, so many bugs going around and I always find my kids get poorly as soon as they go back to school. Hope Barnaby is on the mend now. (ps Adore your boys names!) x

    1. Aw thank you, they’re great names (though I am a little biased haha). Hopefully they’re both back on full form soon. It’s awful when kids are poorly isn’t it!

  4. Hope the boys are both feeling better now and that your mortgage appointment goes well. We are hoping to move soon, but I say that every year and it never happens

  5. Good luck with the house hunting. Poor Bertie, glad he was feeling better by Saturday but sorry to hear that Barnaby was then unwell. Well done for managing to close the rings on your Apple watch each day last week. It is nice to get out for a walk. I’m trying to get out more this year too. #project365
