Side Hustle Figures 2023

Everyone loves being nosey and finding out what people actually make doing all these survey sites, etc. Some people have unrealistic expectations and think they’re going to earn thousands, and maybe some people do! But unless you dedicate the whole working day to surveys, 7 days a week, it’s unlikely. So this is my little contribution to what you can really make using the sites I’ve recommended in my post here.

June 2023

Once again I set myself the target of £50 – definitely fell short this month! I started well, checking each of the apps/sites a couple of times a day, but by the middle of the month I just stopped checking. I’m not really sure why and I’ve not quite got back into the groove of it yet.

I’m going to make a conscious effort to get back into the swing of things in July, though I really am losing faith in EverUp – it seems that I’m not getting any decent wins since they introduced the paid option, and I’m just not into that!

The one saving grace is that we’ve gone over £100 made this year! While it’s not going to mean I can quit my job anytime soon, I do see this as bonus money for relatively little effort.

May 2023

It’s not been a bad month! I had set myself a goal of £50 and it does feel a shame to have missed that, but it has been my best month yet! There is another £4 “waiting for approval” on prolific, but I’m not including this because I don’t want to count my chickens. Things can and do go wrong!

The Top Cashback this month was the purchase of a new hoover – it seems kind of counterintuitive to count this as income when we spent a lot more than that, but I suppose we’d have spent the money regardless of getting a little of it back.

I’m going to keep my target for the month at £50, but whether I meet this or not, I should at least hit £100 for the year so far which seems a pretty exciting figure!

April 2023

We’ve had a baby! Wow has it been a busy month – getting used to life as a family of four has been the most exhausting fun I’ve ever had! Night feeds, in particular, have been great for providing time to check survey sites – I seem to get a decent amount of quick and easy mobile studies on prolific in the middle of the night. It’s also been a decent month for shopping and I’ve somehow remembered to snap each receipt despite the sleep deprivation. All in all, not a bad month, but I’m hoping to keep building on these good foundations into May and beyond.

February/March 2023

Things started to pick up in February when I invested a little time on prolific on my phone instead of “doom scrolling” through the half term. Receipt scanning took a step backward, though, as I let the pile build up all month without scanning them! Luckily a few made it through as being recent enough to earn a few points. March was a funny old month, with a baby coming any moment and having a million things to complete at work before leaving for maternity – I was exhausted beyond belief and trying to take on too much. This meant things like prolific took a backseat once again, and I side-hustled a very bare minimum! I’m hoping things can start to pick up once the baby is here, Bertie is back at nursery, and we’re into a better routine.

January 2023

This hasn’t been a great month in all honesty. I’ve not had much free time (does anyone in January?!) and it’s felt like the longest month in the history of forever. I even had a panic that I’d missed pancake day before realising it wasn’t even February yet, haha.

That being said, I’ve been pretty good at scanning my receipts and had a few pretty good days on Vypr. I haven’t checked Prolific at all, which is a shame because it’s a decent earner when I have the time to spend.

All in all, despite the month consisting of 2,718,186 days, I don’t think it’s been the best in terms of time spent on side hustles.
